The School's Eco-Clubs Program
An Eco-Club is a school-based structure made up of students,
teachers, parents and community members who work together to protect the
environment through utilizing arts, games and innovative approaches.
The school's Eco-Club is a program developed by the IRO
Organization to help schools in Iraq engage with environmental issues through a
variety of activities.
Eco-Club Program aims to build a sense of responsibility
toward nature and inspire sustainable habits in everyday life. It also promotes
teamwork across generations, encouraging everyone to take shared responsibility
for the planet.

IRO trains teachers and Eco-Clubs on specific environment
themes and management topics such as: planning and management of activities,
community engagement, awareness raising activities and other on-demand topics
to prepare the management teams of the Clubs to sustain their activities beyond
the project timeline.
The Eco-Club board will hold regular meetings to plan and
organize activities. They may also meet on specific days to carry out special
projects or events. Each Club will develop its own work plan—either on a yearly
or seasonal basis—with detailed goals and activities. IRO will provide ongoing
support to these clubs by offering information, guidance, and assistance in
planning.
In addition, IRO will help connect Eco-Clubs across
different schools by creating a shared platform that encourages collaboration.
This will make it easier to organize joint meetings, coordinate shared
projects, and plan large-scale campaigns—especially on important occasions like
Earth Day.
