Our History

IRO members have been involved in community activism since 2004. The organization emerged from a community-based youth forum in the Garmyan district, where members were active from 2005 to 2013 through a program funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). This eight-year project played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation for the organization's activities.

Team & Methodology

Community-Centric Approach and Diverse Collaboration: A Model for Sustainable Impact

IRO organization operates on a unique working methodology that prioritizes community engagement and collaboration. Comprising a dynamic team of both staff and volunteers, including individuals from refugee, internally displaced persons (IDP), and host community backgrounds, we have established a framework that leverages collective expertise and local insights to address pressing challenges.

Our Team

Our team is predominantly composed of individuals aged 18 to 30, with some members even younger in specific districts. The diversity of our team reflects the communities we serve, ensuring that our efforts align with the needs and aspirations of local populations. While most team members bring fresh perspectives and energy, our leadership benefits from experience of the elder staff of the organization with over 22 years of dedicated work in civic activism. This blend of youthfulness and expertise fosters innovation while grounding our initiatives in practical wisdom.

Methodology

At the core of our methodology lies a commitment to inclusivity and participatory decision-making. When identifying needs, addressing gaps, and tackling challenges within communities, we convene gatherings where community members, stakeholders from government, private sector, community leaders, experts, and other relevant entities collectively brainstorm and strategize. These sessions serve as platforms for open dialogue, enabling the pooling of diverse insights and resources. By involving a wide array of perspectives, we ensure that our interventions are comprehensive, contextually relevant, and sustainable.
