It grew out of the youth forum in Garmyan district, where members were active from 2005 to 2013. Network of Volunteers: Over the years, IRO has built a strong network of volunteers, including youth groups, both in urban and rural areas. This network spans across the entire country. Project History: IRO's initial work was supported by the Civil Society Initiative (CSI) and funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). This eight-year project played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for your organization's activities. Registration and Legal Status: IRO was officially registered as a non-profit organization in June 2019 with the Department of NGOs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Mission and Focus: IRO is a non-partisan and non-governmental organization that primarily focuses on community development. This is achieved through capacity building, awareness raising, and advocacy initiatives.
IRO vision is a society in which the vulnerable groups have share in decision making process and access to community resources
Our Mission
IRO mission is to motivate and enable people to participate in the processes of decision making and sustainable development for improving their living standards and basic human rights. IRO works in close collaboration with several networks and organizations. We believe that networking with like-minded organizations is very essential and helpful for the materialization of IRO’s vision, mission and goals.

We undertake capacity development initiatives with various target groups, especially youth, women and girls,  IDPs, refugees, and disabilities and leading them to improvement in their lives and fundamental rights.
We create spaces for dialogue that focus on social justice, vulnerabilities, livelihoods, food security, health and their implications especially for marginalized communities and facilitate the voice of these groups to be considered for policy action.
We endeavor to explore and undertake pilot initiatives through inclusive resilience-building programs to find proper solutions for the sustainable and socially cohesive community.
